How adding vintage furniture to your new home is more than just aesthetic

Recently we had the opportunity to take on our first new construction project. Of the MANY things we learned during this process, one major thing that stood out was the amount of waste that goes into furnishing a new home. This was a second home for the owners, and so we had to purchase all new furniture to furnish every room in the house. Each piece, from the big furniture items to the new linens and the small kitchen utensils came with a MASSIVE amount of TRASH!

Throwing away piles and piles of trash every week got us thinking about a major case for vintage furniture and thrifting. Not only does this provide an opportunity to give new life to a well-loved piece, but it also makes sure that your home is unique and not cookie-cutter! Oh, and of course, there's the waste factor!

Some local places we love to shop vintage pieces and second-hand goods:

  1. Facebook - there are tons of marketplace groups on Facebook where you can pick up local items, sometimes even for free!

  2. Etsy

  3. Flea For All

  4. Heirloom Consignments

  5. Chairish
