GET TO KNOW OUR ARTISTS FOR THE FALL MANTELPIECE SET: Alice Yardley OF Alice yardley maine

The candle incorporated in our Fall mantel box made by Hannah Martin will be wrapped in a leather sleeve made by Alice Yardley of Alice Yardley Maine. Alice’s passion for leather working and color theory developed while she was working as a high school teacher in Atlanta and New York City. When starting her company in 2018, Alice utilized her relationships with local upholstery and leather shops to repurpose leather pieces into unique bags. A portion of her work continues to be made with repurposed leather, and she is extremely passionate about contributing to the sustainable and zero-waste movement in the world of fashion. Each handbag is thoughtfully created into a one-of-a-kind design handmade by Alice herself.

The candle collaboration that we are so happy to have as an element of our box is leather scented and titled “de pelle” the idea was born from customers visiting Alice’s shop and immediately commenting on the lovely smell of the leather.

The name “di pelle,” meaning “of leather” in Italian, is perfectly fitting for this leather remnant wrapped candle featuring a scent of wild vetiver and suede— a rather feminine take on the scent of leather. Just like our handbags, the scent is light, fresh, modern, and feminine. Each candle is wrapped in a different color leather remnant, stamped with a gold clean logo, and secured with a single gold snap.

To Alice, this is what being a maker is truly all about—inspiration and collaboration.

"Sometimes, the best ideas come from just chatting with the people around you, and oftentimes it takes even more people to bring that idea to fruition! It’s an invigorating process that only continues to inspire more ideas. " - Alice Yardley

We feel so lucky to be working with both Alice and Hannah on this project, their products are incredible and their businesses inspire us!
