Holiday shopping at Makers Markets - why shopping local means so much more

Can you believe the holiday season is already upon us? If, like us, you're gearing up to get something special for everyone on your list, you'll want to listen up! This year we are more dedicated than ever to shopping local. Not only does shopping local support you local artist community, but it also reduces waste (goodbye, oversized Amazon boxes with one small item in them!!) and environmental impacts of shipping!

So this year instead of checking out mass-produced junk on Amazon, why not hit up the Maker's Markets (they are plentiful). One year I quite literally knocked out all of my Holiday shopping in one day across 3 markets.....IDEAL. It's also just so much nicer to gift someone an item that's been crafted with love and represents a passion.

Here are some local markets to look out for in the Southern Maine are this Holiday Season:

Maine Maker's Market

Maker's Market at Thompson's Point

Center for Wildlife Holiday Bazaar Makers Market

and there are so so many more probably heavily promoted in your area - Happy local shopping!

Interested in shopping local but can't find a time to leave the house? We love Etsy for great local finds, and supporting small businesses and artists everywhere! Some of our current favorite Etsy finds below!
