winter in maine: our happy place at Saddleback Mountain
If you have been here for a while, and/or follow me on Instagram, you know I spend every winter weekend at Saddleback in Rangeley, Maine. While I am truly so lucky to spend every weekend there, I can't recommend it enough, even if you can get just on weekend at this magical spot.
Saddleback, and more specifically Rangeley, is not just a winter destination though, it offers tons to do year round! With some of Maine's largest lakes, plenty of hiking, fishing, off roading (it's a country thing ;)) and mountain biking, there is a little something for everyone.
While we do go up during all parts of the year, my family definitely spends the most time there during the winter when we all ski at Saddleback. Unlike some of Maine's other ski mountains, Saddleback offers diverse terrain with a laid back atmosphere and almost never any lift lines. From plenty of groomed and ungroomed trails to the biggest beginner's area I've seen locally, it's great for all levels of skiing too!
As far as an apres scene, enjoy a beer from the Tiny Home pub outside or head up to the pub for not only a wide draft selection but also a great lunch and dinner menu!
Dress The Part
And ya, Saddleback is also known for being super cold (hence, all the snow!!) so you'll definitely want to dress super warm to hit the slopes. I decided to upgrade my gear this year, and went with a super bright and colorful set from Helly Hansen. I love that my kids can easily find me on the mountain, and it's super warm and cozy! My jacket and bib are last season, but check out my picks if I were buying new this season to!
Also if you are looking for super cute and functional gear for the littles, we just ordered a new outfit (pants/jacket) for my daughter, Lennon! I can't wait to see her in it.
And if you happen to make a trip up to Saddleback, be sure to find me and say hello :)
