August Recap and Favorites

I posted on Instagram earlier this week about September being the start of the new year for parents. It's a time when the kids go back to school, and we, as parents, get back to regular routines and habits. Oftentimes it means I can start regularly working out again, easily schedule meetings during business hours, and generally focus on myself and my business a little bit more.

Don't get me wrong though, I love summer, and this one was one for the books! Although June and July were mostly rainy and we're going to pretend like they didn't happen, August was epic. Lennon came home from school yesterday needing an artifact from our summer to share with her classroom. We decided on a photo from a girls trip we took to Rangeley with her two besties and two of mine. As I was looking back through photos to find the "one with us in front of the tallest waterfall in Maine" that Lennon requested, I got to relive a few of the memories from our summer.

From Soccer Camp to the Barbie Movie, OUr August in PHotos

As the weather got better we took many a boat rides, discovering new places like Niblic's Store on Chebeague Island and Toots ice cream on Cliff. We saw a pod of dolphins right in Casco Bay. We rode dirt bikes in Rangeley and hiked to new places like Piazza Rock on the Appalachian Trail. The kids enjoyed not one but three theatre camps between the two of them, and learned to love Soccer and Lacrosse (like any true Caper should ;)). We finally ventured off of Casino Beach and went to Scarborough for tide pool crab hunting and smoothie bowls.

A lot of Play, but Some Work Too

With limited child care we did spend a lot of time adventuring outside, but I did manage to squeeze in some work too! I finished the install in both A-Frames at Saddleback Mountain, had photoshoots with Maine Home and Design for two beautiful projects, hung new lights in our kitchen and redecorated our kitchen shelves. We also started planning for our own Surf Road renovation, and in fact have major updates to share with you in just a couple weeks. We also brought on a new team member, Stacy Stevens, who will be serving as our Project Manager, keeping both the business and our projects uber organized!

September Book Club

And finally, for those of you who want to join me on my book club journey, September will only have 1 book because I am still finishing last month's book (The House in the Pines), I will be reading The Housemaid's Secret, which is the Sequel to on of July's books, The Housemaid which I loved.
