December Recap + Favorite Links
December is a magical and wonderful and stressful and chaotic time to be a mom! If you're like me and made the horrible mistake (IMO) of introducing an Elf on the Shelf to your household, you likely spent the month moving that thing all over your house, at all hours of the night (IYKYK). We also shop for the whole family, extended family, friends and coworkers. We make plans to bake cookies and decorate the tree. We execute all the little traditions our families have come to expect, and so on and so on. All of this to see the wonder and joy on our kiddos faces for the short time that they believe in Santa, and to create magical memories for years to come. It's great, but I'm glad it's over for another 11 months.
Surf Road Studio is now Open for Business!
Work definitely took a back seat for most of the month, with one notable exception... we opened a new studio space!! We muscled our way into the most perfect location (directly behind mine and Stacy's kids school, the convenience cannot be beat), and spent the month making it our own. I designed the perfect sample library and we took a trip down to Ikea to make it come to life on a budget. I bought beautiful furnishings in our notorious mix of high/low. It came together VERY quickly, and although there are still a few finishing touches to be made, it's been the most amazing sanctuary. I am so happy to be out of my kids playroom and into my very own studio. Images and lots of content from this space will be coming soon, so make sure you are following along with us on Instagram!
Personally...
Some updates on the home front! Some of you will remember WAY BACK WHEN, when we announced we were getting a puppy. Although I was so excited about it I couldn't contain myself, I probably announced a little prematurely ;) However, with ski season in full swing, we are now actually starting to prep for puppy! Our soon-to-be fur baby's mom is pregnant, and due at the beginning of February, so definitely stay tuned for updates next month as we pick our girl, start prepping our house for her arrival, and ultimately bring her home in early April!
The last Surf Road Book Club book I announced was A Court of Thornes and Roses, which I finished in December (it's a long one!). I am now on to the second one, A Court of Mist and Fury. Obviously, I'm into it. I hear that it's going to be a movie soon, so if you are into fantasy and a little bit of sexiness to warm you up this winter, I highly recommend this series. We are also going to be starting the Forgotten Five series with the kids on our weekly rides up to Rangeley, so stay tuned next month for how we are liking that.
