Trend Alert: Dramatic Marble + What you need to know about edge types
Love the look of an all white kitchen but afraid of being bored or boring? Our clients are choosing to skip the snooze-fest with the latest trend in countertops and backsplashes: dramatic stone! Although the title of this post is “marble”, we are really seeing this across all types of stone, including quartz, quartzite, granite and more!
If you are afraid to go all in on this trend, think about limiting the space to the wet bar, island, or even a powder room to dip your toes.
You can bring the drama to your stone in a lot of different ways. There are many different colors, and of course veining makes a huge difference. You can be as subtle or as bold as you want, but these days we’re pushing clients to opt for more, more, more! when it comes to drama in their countertops.
Most recently, on our #SRSurreyLane Project, the clients are adding a new kitchen and wet bar. The kitchen will have beautiful, but subtle quartzite countertops and backsplash (Taj Mahal, if you know it!) and the wet bar will be a more dramatic stone with large veining. While this certainly took the client our of her comfort zone, in the end we are all really excited for this stunning and unique look.
Not ready to take the leap into dramatic stone but looking for a unique way to personalize your countertops? Did you know there are (at least!) 12 different edge types you can choose from?
The bathroom at our #LittleRam project used the simple, flat edge to accentuate their dramatic blue marble bathroom countertops.
A designer we love, admire and respect, Tyler Karu, recently used the Ogee edge in a project, giving this bathroom a truly elevated feel.
