Get to know our artists for the Fall mantelpiece set: Catie bush of pine state pottery
For our fall mantelpiece box we are sourcing crafts that are handmade by local maine artists and small businesses that we love! The box will incorporate a mantelpiece runner, a ceramic vase holding a dried flower bouquet. A handmade candle will also make an appearance alongside a custom photo frame.
We will be highlighting each artist with a little write up so that if you choose to purchase the package you will feel connected to the pieces in your home and if even if you don’t purchase the box you should definitely follow these creatives as they are incredible and inspiring! First up, is the exuberant and driven Catie Bush of Pine state pottery.
Catie is a jack of many trades, a traveler, a hospitality worker, a huge dog lover all on top of being a ceramicist. She got her start with pottery all the way back in high school and fell in love with clay. She was scrolling through instagram one day and found some work that really inspired her made by an instructor at Portland Pottery on Washington Ave. She signed up for classes and hasnt stopped since. Catie’s favorite things to make are bowls of all shapes and sizes. Having only been working with clay for 2 years Catie’s work is impressive. In the time she has off from working in restaurants, assisting an artist in their own craft and spending time in nature she is working her butt off in the studio.
A project Catie has been working on lately is making custom wine chillers for Saddleback Mountain (which are too cute) and having the connection we do to the mountain it seemed like a perfect fit to incorporate her work in our fall mantelpiece box.
