Working with existing material; A bathroom Vibe switch up with a pop of fun

When this client asked my to help out with her bathroom, it was not only because she had seen my work and appreciated it, but also because she was stuck. No matter how gorgeous the home - and trust me hers is GORGEOUS - there will always be at least one tricky area. For this space it came down to the existing terracotta tile flooring as well as the brown granite countertops in the powder bathroom on the first floor. The client just couldn't see past it.

Taylor's Bathroom Before:

my vision

Almost immediately upon walking into the bathroom I had a vision for what it could be. Instead of working against the colors the tricky, but expensive to change elements in the room, I leaned in. Finding a complimentary color to the browns that would make this bathroom pop was key. I absolutely love how the deep green vanity looks against the terracotta floors and brown granite countertop. The wallpaper pulls in both colors, and the brass accents give the bathroom a modern feel.

Taylor's Bathroom After

The lesson here: A little pattern goes a long way. Don't be afraid of bold wallpapers or of working with existing elements in a space! The results of this bathroom are so fun and create the ambiance of being at a luxurious spa somewhere far away from Maine winters. A very different vibe from the other bathroom we designed in this same house also utilizing fun wallpaper.
