how to be a cat parent and still have a cute house

Cat Condos, not in my house!

Chances are, if you've been here for a while, you've seen one of Liz's cats making his or her way into photos and videos on our Instagram page. In a lot of ways, having cats is so easy: automatic food dispensers and their independent lifestyle make them nice companions for busy households. If you are one of the people that has dedicated a good chunk of their life to raising and doting over their cats you know just how However, most cat accessories (think scratch pads, cat condos, etc.) are truly HIDEOUS and nothing I would ever want to display in my home. It can be difficult to keep your shared living space looking cute and also buy them all of the things you know will make their lives purrrfect.

Thankfully, over the past few years, cat home accessories have started catching up with Pinterest-worthy homes, and there are some adorable options out there that, with the right planning and style, can be a very cool addition to your home.

Stylish Cat Accessories For Your Home

Cat Mom Tips

 1. Designate a space. In order to keep your space from looking cluttered with kitty things, designate a spot in your home to be the cat's domain. This can be as small as a corner or as big as their own room, depending on your homes space constraints.

2. Stick to neutral tones. Keep the palette neutral and basic, and make sure there's an area to hide away toys. One significant reason a home with cats can look more creepy than styled is because of the bright colors and overly fuzzy fabrics of most cat toys that catch dust and fur like a sponge.

3. Use baskets to your advantage. Have baskets or bins with cat toys and treats that you can take out when cat wants to play, or hide away when you have guests. One of Liz's cat's favorite games is actually taking his toy out of the bin on his own!

The Dreaded Litter Box

The litter box is, without a doubt, the worst part of cat ownership. This is especially true if your home is small, and you can't stash it in a basement or a garage. The litter box is also a huge factor of what makes or breaks a cat home.

If space is tight and the litter box can't be hidden away, consider something like the hidden option below. If you don't want to go for the cabinet style of hidden litter there are plenty of boxes that blend in with a sleek aesthetic and contain debris.
