Southwestern design Inspo: Tuscon, Arizona
My family trip to Tucson
Given that we live on the coast of Maine, surrounded by pine trees and the ocean, I was very excited to spend last week in Tucson, Arizona with my family and experience a new and incredibly unique landscape! From the moment we started our decent into Tucson my whole family was amazed. My son even declared "this place is amazing!" as he peered out the window of his airplane seat. The whole city completely flat, yet it is surrounded by the most gorgeous mountains and of course, the cactus! As prevalent as a pine tree is in Maine, Arizona is absolutely littered with the most incredible cactus.
Our Airbnb
Of course, as an interior designer I was very excited about the airbnb! I never get to design in this southwestern style, and it is very much my vibe! If anyone wants me to design them a little traditional Southwestern Abode, hmu! I am definitely up for that challenge. Our house had so many great details. The built-in kiva style fireplace in the master bedroom, the soft green wall tile (which was also in the upstairs bath), neutral color palette and bohemian feel was all just so well done.
What we did
Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate that well with our trip. We got about 2 days of sunshine (the first and last day), and pretty chilly, rainy days in between. My packing was a little to ambitious even though I knew the weather, so I pretty much lived in leggings and my levi 501's. Despite the cooler temps, we packed in a LOT of activity. Here are some things I definitely recommend doing if you find yourself in Tucson...
