Family Trip to Costa Rica

Flying International with Kids

This week (T-minus 3 days!) we are leaving for our first international trip with the kids! If you're new here, my husband and I have 2 kids, Lennon (age 8) and Crawford (age 6). We are going with our besties and their 6 year old daughter. Like most international travel, getting there is going to be a total adventure!! We are flying into San Jose airport, renting a car and driving to the Ferry town. We decided to stay overnight at a hotel and then take the car ferry across the Nicoya Peninsula the next morning. From there we will drive a couple of hours south to our final destination!

What to Pack

packing for a warm weather trip

We have been telling the kids it will be an adventure, and it definitely will be their longest day of travel. Luckily they have done a fair amount of travel in their little lives, and we make the almost 3 hour drive North to Rangeley almost every weekend in the winter so I am hopeful that it won't be too terrible. Aaaanyway. We'll get through it and we are all VERY excited. The weather is looking incredible, so we are mostly packing bathing suits and shorts! We will be exploring different beaches while we are there, and hoping to see lots of wildlife. I've actually been itching to pack my suitcase for weeks. Partly because I'm so excited to go and be warm and tropical, but also because I just got the Beis Weekender Bag which fits over the handle of my Beis suitcase. When we went to Tucson I didn't have a big enough carry-on. The kid's shit they wouldn't carry didn't fit and it was kind of a mess. [show_shopthepost_widget id="4975552"]

Comfy Casual Warm Weather Looks

So, as you can tell I'm keeping it pretty comfy and casual. The forecast looks HOT so living in bathing suits most of the time, which I am not mad about at all. Tap any pic above or any pic below to shop my suitcase, and be sure to check out our page in the LTK app to see what clothes I'm packing for the kids and what Kyle is packing!

Do you have any tips for traveling internationally with kids? I'm all ears! Connect with me on Instagram and let me know! Otherwise tune in to see how our trip is going! Meg and Mariah will be holding down the fort here while I'm gone! Shop my suitcase (and what's inside!) below.
