New Years Style; how to sparkle without being tacky
New Year's Eve is a huge Holiday for a lot of people, and based on the nature of the celebration - decor can be kinda......tacky. We're here to show you some ways of styling your end of one year/beginning of the next party with class!!
There's no need to go over the top with sparkly plastic products, a few here and there do the trick.
Utilize glass! find a glass punch bowl at a thrift store and will it with ornaments, fruit, even punch!
pick a color to pair with your sparkle and stick with it. This color can come through in florals, accent pillows, etc.
lighting matters! Pick a spot in your home that has inviting lighting and build your party around that space.
No glitter and absolutely no confetti. Glitter is the guest that will never leave your home and does not pay rent. "Confetti is one of the highest sources of plastic and paper pollution. "Throwing confetti made of foil, glitter, or plastic is really, really bad for the environment. It’s littering. These pieces of trash can exist in the environment for 10, 20, even 100+ years." - SheEco
SO let's talk about the viewer's choice design challenge.
We gave you prompts and asked you to choose three design elements for us to come up with a design for a New Years party.
We asked you to choose between hosting the party in the dining room or living room and the winner was living room!
here are a few of our picks for living room party throwing:
we asked you to choose between a grey blue color and a gold tone and this decision was a bit harder but in the end after a tie blue won.
here are a few of our picks for incorporating the blue theme into your party space:
And overwhelmingly you all chose disco as the design element over balloons!
here are a few of our disco themed picks:
Now for the final product!! We wanted to keep it very very simple for this design, just a few sparse design elements based on the votes. We are firm believers you don't need to go overboard with decorations but if this feels too simple for you, you could always add in some branches and greenery to make it a wintery forest vibe with the deep blues or add in mixed metal pieces to pack in the elegance!
