Surf Road Reveal: Modern meets boho apartment

OUR FIRST OFFICIAL SURF ROAD PROJECT, DONE!

When I first launched Surf Road a year and a half ago, I really didn't know how it was going to go! I had just decided to leave my previous job and strike out on my own. Erin and Jon had just bought a beautiful house in Gray that needed a TON of work. We started talking to architects and builders, and drawing up ideas. It was all doable, but rather daunting for two Brooklyn transplants who had never had so much house let alone so much land before!

They decided to sell, and quickly moved into a quintessential East End apartment in Portland. Erin and Jon had a pretty good idea of their style, and I was happy to help them fine tune it and bring a cohesive feel throughout the space. The result is a cozy, comfortable, yet beautiful and unique apartment filled with pieces that are completely them. They can take all of it to their next landing spot, wherever that may be, and instantly be at home.

The Living Room

Erin and Jon wanted a space where friends could comfortably hang out and listen to music (Jon is an avid record collector!). Their living room is perfectly them, mixing modern tones like chartreuse and mustard with cozy, neutral textures like the pebble rug.

The Dining Room

The dining room was the first room we started back in Gray. Erin and Jon desperately wanted to find a quick-ship dining table so that they could host their families for Thanksgiving. However, when we all fell in love with the Bok table from Ethnicraft, we knew they'd be dining on card tables come Turkey Day!

The dining room is the most neutral in the house, but I love the way the bold pattern of the Abode rug play against the woven dining chairs and modern light fixture. Erin and Jon didn't want any brass in their house (a huge departure and challenge for me!), but we managed to keep the feel super warm and cozy using a mix of wood tones and textures.

Guest Bedroom

Erin and Jon are both "from away", and so we wanted their frequent guests to feel super welcome and cozy in their urban apartment. An eclectic mix of textures, variations of the colors from the main living space and a little spot to get some work done made this room a guest oasis ready to welcome family and friends for years to come.

Primary Bedroom

Erin and Jon's bright, sun-filled bedroom was the last piece of the puzzle to come together. An oasis for the couple and their small pooch, the bedroom is a modern mix of deep rust and olive tones with plenty of storage for their unique interests.
