Design Challenge: Toy Organization

We were recently asked a design challenge question on Instagram about how to organize your kids toys, especially when you don't have a designated room for them (or, really, even if you do!). Since holidays are right around the corner and those toy collections are only getting bigger by year's end, we thought we would reach out to our very own project manager, Stacy, owner of Half Full Organizing, to give us the how to on toy organizing. As the owner of Half Full Organizing (and Mom of two young girls), I understand the importance of keeping things simple[...]

Surf Road October Recap and Book Review: I’m Glad My Mom Died

Undoubtedly the best thing to have happened last month was my brother's wedding. He married the girl of all of our dreams, and gave all of their friends and family a beautiful weekend in Wiscasset, Maine. They got married at Marianmade Farm, which is right off of Route 1 in Wiscasset. It's a lavender farm, so of course it's gorgeous, right on the ocean, and in full bloom of mauve Hydrangeas everywhere. The food was amazing, the band was outstanding, and the love was real. We had a great time, and are just so happy for the Smith's :) October Work We[...]

September Recap and Favorite Links

Is this for real!? It legit feels like I was writing the August recap yesterday. Needless to say, this month has FLOWN by. Where do I even begin?! The kids started school this month, Lennon going into 3rd grade and Crawford into 1st. The have both had a great start to the year, but I think I have said we are "over scheduled" at least a dozen times this month. Between cross country, swimming, soccer, gymnastics and flag football, we have something every night of the week just about! I can't even imagine next year when Crawford can also do travel soccer! And there[...]

August Recap and Favorites

I posted on Instagram earlier this week about September being the start of the new year for parents. It's a time when the kids go back to school, and we, as parents, get back to regular routines and habits. Oftentimes it means I can start regularly working out again, easily schedule meetings during business hours, and generally focus on myself and my business a little bit more. Don't get me wrong though, I love summer, and this one was one for the books! Although June and July were mostly rainy and we're going to pretend like they didn't happen, August was ep[...]

The Surf Road Book Club: August 2023

I'm not about to go on a rant here about the childcare crisis or how parents are somehow expected to take the entire month of August off from work because, why would camp be offered in August?! No, I'm not going to do that. Instead I'm going to tell you that I am currently working on 2 books for the August Surf Road Book Club, and having a hard time getting through them. I think this is mostly because I have not had time to read, but also because at least one of the books I am having a hard time getting into! My Bookclub Picks for August Continuing wit[...]

My Labor day (Long) Weekend Packing list

This year my kids will not be starting school until after Labor Day, meaning we have an extra long weekend for Labor Day fun! We are planning to head up to Rangeley for the weekend for hiking, lake swimming and hopefully soaking up the last few days of summer by sleeping in and enjoying time together as a family. The weather in Rangeley turns towards Fall a lot earlier than in southern Maine, so I'll be packing lots of layers and all the cozy-comfies I plan on living in all Fall and Winter! What to Wear: Hiking Rangeley is famous for its beautiful lakes[...]

Summer in Maine: Family Activities You Should Do With Your Kids

coastal maine botanical gardens

Ah, it's here. The reason we all live here, enduring the long winter and non-existent spring all for 2.5 months of perfect temperatures, sunshine and outdoor activities. I say 2.5 months because June is completely hit or miss, this year a total miss, but September can be nice... for a couple weeks. Anyway, whether you're new to Maine, just visiting, or you've been here a while, these are the things we view as "must do" this summer. Take A Trip Downeast If you haven't been to Acadia National Park, you absolutely must. As one of the top 10 most visit[...]

designer ways to decorate your house for pride month this june

pride welcome mat

I have always hated the flag pole in our front yard. It is way too big for the size of the house, and I am not about to throw an American flag up there. I will say, however, it has provided an opportunity to fly a Pride flag this month, and for that I am happy. As much as my daughter would love to cover our house in rainbows every day of the year, I am more of a subtle type of gal! Here are some of the more design-friendly ways to show your support for Pride, without going all out rainbows (unless of course that's your thing, and honestly go for it!) ;) Pa[...]
